The #1 way to resolve a conflict or problem is to stop it before it happens by properly communicating with your cheerleaders and parents UP FRONT your rules and expectations and then STICK TO THEM no matter what! For example, communicate what you expect regarding attendance, participation, tardiness, activities, attitude, fundraising, etc. Make sure you give SPECIFIC details about your rules and consequences.
Here is an easy solution to confirm that your cheerleaders and parents understand your rules and consequences, so when you reinforce them, there will be no problems:
- Emails: Send an email with your program details and REQUIRE them to reply to your email stating that they read, understand and agree to them. The email solution is great when you do not get a chance to see some of your parents.
Having a conflict free, smooth season is possible and by clearly detailing your expectations will put you on the right track.
