Cheerleading Flyer Positions and Tips

Here are the top 8 Flyer positions and some tips to remember:

Cupie

With the Cupie, the Flyer keeps her feet together and arms are in a high V motion.

Liberty

The Liberty, has the Flyer balancing on 1 leg with the other foot arch touching her knee and the toe is pointed.   The arm motion can be any motion that completes your skill.

Torch

The Torch also has the Flyer balancing on 1 leg.  It is just like a Liberty done to the side with her foot on her knee while her upper body is turned toward the crowd.  The arm motion can be any motion that completes your skill.

Heelstretch

The Heelstretch, is a beautiful position with the Flyer on 1 leg and the opposite let in a straight leg extension toward the front.  Her hand is wrapped around  her  arch / heel.   The arm motion can be any motion that completes your skill.

Bow and Arrow

The Bow and Arrow is a very difficult position as it requires a lot of flexibility.  The flyer holds the arch / heel of her foot and extends the straight leg next to her ear.   The arm is in a T motion in front of the leg.

Scorpion

The Scorpion is performed facing the side so the crowd can see the beautiful extension of the leg.  The Flyer holds the top of her foot with both hands and pulls the foot up toward her head behind her.

Scale

The Scale has the Flyer facing front while holding on to her back leg and pulling it up straight up to the side.   The arm motion is in a high V motion.

Arabesque

With the Arabesque, the Flyer is facing the side with her leg fully extended directly behind her.  The leg is straight with a pointed toe.   The arms are in a T motion.
