How to do a Scorpion Cheerleading Stunt Flyer Position

October 23, 2025 By CCC Staff

The Scorpion is a beautiful cheerleading stunt flyer position!   It is performed facing the side so the crowd can see the beautiful extension of the leg.

The Flyer holds the top of her foot with both hands and pulls the foot up toward her head behind her.

Her chest is UP and her face is looking at the crowd.

Remember, you will not get your foot this high to begin, it takes A LOT of practice and flexibility.  So practice with your leg at different levels behind you.

How to do a Cheerleading Toe Touch Jump – Free Download Ebook

October 22, 2025 By CCC Staff

It is a myth that you need to be able to do a perfect split to have a beautiful toe touch.  If you actually look at one from the side, you will see that your body is in a “sitting” position and your legs come up to meet your hands.  Also, you do not “touch” your toes – you should reach for your heels;  this gives the illusion that your legs are “inverted or hyper-extended”.  Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Toe Touch Jump Execution Tips:

  • Keep your head and chest up.
  • Bring your legs up to you.
  • Reach for your heels – not your toes.
  • Land with your feet together.
  • For the “inverted / hyper-extended” effect, keep your back completely straight and roll your hips under you as you reach for your heels at the top of your jump.
  • Keep your body in the “sitting” position and do not lean forward to reach your toes.

How to Make Your Cheerleading Practices More Fun!

October 20, 2025 By CCC Staff

Would you love some fun ideas to get your team excited?!  How about some great ideas for your upcoming practices? Check these out and get started:

  1. Color Team Day:  Have a practice where the entire team wears a specific color.  For example, next week’s practice can be Pink day or Red day.  Also, you can have your entire team where the same color all day at school to reinforce team unity.
  2. Color Stunt Group Day:  Have a practice where the each stunt group wears a specific color.  For example, one group can wear red while other groups can wear pink, blue, green and yellow.
  3. Crazy Sock Day:  Have everyone where crazy or mix-matched socks.
  4. TWIN Day:  Pair up your athletes and have them dress like twins at your next practice  You can use this to improve team unity as you can select the pairs and put people together that may have not really spent a lot of time together.  At the end of the practice have the twins do a little “fashion show” for the team and you can give out awards for the most creative;  awards can include lolly pops, cheer money, etc..
  5. More Theme Day Ideas:  Here are some other themes that you can use at your practice:
    • Disney Shirt Day
    • Super Hero / Wonder Woman Day
    • Polka Dots Day
    • Bow Day – wear as many bows as you can.
    • Crazy Bow Day
    • Tie Die Day – Wear Tie Die shirts, socks, bows, shorts, etc.
    • Heart Day – wear as many hearts as you can.
    • Star day – wear as many stars as you can.

6. Give Back Day:  At the end of practice, take 30 to 45 minutes to do a community service project.  Ideas include to make toys for the animals at the humane society or to make birthday cards for a homeless shelter.

Improve Your Cheerleading Jumps Today with these Top Practice Tips from Expert Cheerleading Coacheses

October 19, 2025 By CCC Staff

Would you love to improve your cheerleading jumps? All it takes is practice, practice and more practice! So here are some things to remember when you are practicing at home:

  1. The way you practice is the way you will perform! If you practice “half way” then when you perform your jumps, they will not be their best.
  2. Practice in front of a mirror: This way you can see what your jumps look like.
  3. Practice smiling: By doing your facials (facial expressions) in front of a mirror you will automatically smile during your jump execution.
  4. Practice on the ground: There are several jumps that you can practice while sitting on the ground including the Tuck Jump and the Toe Touch. This technique will allow you to feel what it should be like in the air.
  5. Practice on various surfaces: When you practice on a variety of floors including spring floors, grass and on mats, you be able to perform anywhere and you will build strength in your legs (jumping on a spring / competition floor is much easier than jumping on grass).
